Eka Pada Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (One-Legged Bridge Pose)
What other form of exercise can stretch the neck, chest, and spine while calming the brain and alleviating stress? Mild depression? Take the yoga cure! Stimulate the abdominal organs and thyroid as you increase your lung capacity. Improve your digestion as you rejuvenate fatigued legs. Level out the hormones. Tired? Anxiety? Headache? Backache? Insomnia? Take the yoga cure! Osteoporosis? High blood pressure? Sinusitis? Asthma? Hold One-Legged Bridge Pose!
Summer brings time to slow down and be still. The world tells us that many questions can be answered with the words faster, bigger, better, and more. Yoga subtly provides us with different answers: slower, quieter, simpler, and less.
Challenge yourself. Open and soften your heart. Call your mother!

Don't tell me you can actually do that pose!!??
You sound like a chiropractor preaching the cure-alls of his trade. Maybe you're in cahoots. If I ever acquired the position pictured, it would take a chiropractor to extricate me.
A beautiful pose that I'll never do and yoga also teaches that that is OK.
When does M, J, and little B arrive?
I want that pose, AND that body. Yes, less is way more and I need to hear that message. I always overdo. You are my reminder to SLOW DOWN. Merci, Babette!
Hmmm. Once achieving taht position, how do I get myself upright again?
I've had three "good back" days in a row now, but I'm not ready to try that! Perhaps a "40 year old in her first day of yoga class" book of poses is what I should look into :-)
Of course she can do that pose! I think Bonnie must be the most limber person we know of!
I've been watching a yoga show on TV. Does that count?
As Garfield once said, "Ever since I've been watching that exercise show, I feel so much better."
Bridge pose is a tough one for me and this one would be harder still. I am still (always) working on relaxing my neck- everything else is falling into place for me with yoga and it's true what you say about the all the beneficial effects- so I will keep on and perhaps Eka Pada Setu Bandha Sarvangasana is in my future.
So I imagined a asthma-ridden, anxious, migraine bearing, tooth-grinding (I added that one), high-blood pressuring, never-tried-yoga-before soul, lying down and trying this pose, and I smiled.
But also, I also suddenl wanted to try it, too.
Do I smell a good teacher?
Love you and miss you and the family! Call your daughter...
Heh! Love the last comment - Moms, don't forget to call your daughters too! (and yes, I just called my Mom too!)
I miss yoga. It was one of my favorite things to do when I was pregnant. I don't think I could ever do that pose.
I mentioned you on my blog. Come take a look.
Your daughter did a fabulous teaching job today. She was serious, prepared and watched the clock to make sure the poses held long enough. She is super strong and very graceful. Thanks for providing such a fabulous substitute. Hope class is going well.

Judy and I are wondering, "What is a hip opener?"
Went to yoga class tonight. It had been a whle. I did the wheel twice, got on my tip toes and was tempted to try this pose, but decided not to push my luck.
I just realized she had her arms folded.
Wow!
Blogger hates me. It ate my comment! I could have sworn I posted a comment about you needing to write a "yoga for idiots" guide. Because, seriously, I don't think I could ever do that! :D
Thinking of you in your big yoga month. Wishing you a wonderful end to your training. xoxo
That's a wonderful pose!
Happy father's Day to papa babette.
Wow...I don't think I could ever get my body to do that. But if I could, many of my troubles would be over!
Just wondering if I could move to another pose, or should I continue holding this one for another month or so???? Just wondering, I'm at peace and I called my mom today. ;)
