Madonna with Green Cushion by Andrea Solario c.1460-1524
(Italian High Renaissance Painter and follower of Leonardo da Vinci)
A certain grandma came bearing gifts: a lambskin and almond massage oil for Baby and a Boppy for the beautiful, new mother. She cooked healthy meals and gave her daughter back rubs on the sunny porch. She encouraged and made Mother Tea. She took walks with her daughter and grandson and enjoyed the instinctive, graceful manner in which her daughter wore her baby in a sling. She delighted in watching her son-in-law protect and support her daughter as he fathered their new delight. This grandmother will have a hole in her heart until they meet again.

Praise God for children who respect and care for new life with tender devotion! Call your mother!

I know whereof you speak. There is nothing sweeter than watching your child with their child, especially when they are newborns. I hope you get to go back soon.
You have brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad you got to spend time with this precious baby and his dear mother, your daughter. When I watch my son loving Ella and caring for her andher mother, I just stand back in awe and wonder.
Welcome to the group. I always heard it was a special group. Now I know, as do you.
You'll be the best hippie grandma ever.
Awwww, what a precious little boy. I hope you get back soon. There are going to be a lot of aunts and uncles anxious to meet him, I sure.
Gail~They're moving here in June!!!
Oh, man... he's beautiful! He's really very, very sweet. Thanks for sharing the photo. And, can I just say, your daughter is pretty lucky to have such an amazing mother.
oh my. so beautiful. oh my. will wonders never cease?
What an utter sweetheart and it sounds like you enjoyed him very much during a delightful visit. They need to hurry up and move up here!
What the heck's a boppy? Now me, I would have got him something more masculine, like a fuzzy wolverine to match his blue blanket there.
It's great to be a member of the Wolverine state right now. The Wings advanced in the play-off, the Pistons are crushing the Bulls, who are coached by an alum of ??? (Guess).
And the Tigers have been on a roll too. Guess who they just beat last night? Yeah, it's a great day to be a sports fan in the Wolverine state.
Big Dave~Got matches?
He's just beautiful.
For the record, I just got off the phone with my mom.
What a cute little face peeking out from that blanket!
So moving.
My firstborn turns six tomorrow. I remember well those early days of motherhood.
She likes to tell me, "I made you a mother."
Absolutely adorable!!!
Back for another vicarious bit of pleasure. He is so perfectly lovely. Also,I'm reminded that I still have
Abby's "lamby" tucked away in the "bright futures" box.
Madonna with Green Cushion? I swear, I never knew a child named Green Cushion. I love coming here....I learn so much.
He really is lovely--it bears repeating! :D And Happy Mother's Day, to you.
It's 6 am and I came over to wish you a most blessed and happy Mother's Day- except I'm laughing so hard at Gene's comment Rich is making those "be quiet, I'm trying to sleep" noises. Lots of love to you, dear B.
What a beautiful little boy. Warmest Mother's Day wishes to you, Babette, and to your daughter.
Back again to say Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your first one as a grandmother!
