Some things can only be explained from the hidden regions of the heart. Les petits bonheurs are all the little things that make each day a miracle. May I share my feast with you?

A pretty girl is like a melody...

~Irving Berlin

One of my life's greatest blessings is being the mother of a certain sweet, teenage girl. Presently, her burning interests include accounting, Jane Eyre, creating brain teasers for Braingle.com, Greek and Roman history, Meriwether Lewis, Tintin comic books, and yoga. Because of her great organizational skills, winsome ways with our little ones, and efficient methods of cooking and keeping house, I have been able to work toward finishing my 200 hour yoga teacher certification this month.

Sorry to have kept y'all in One Legged Bridge Pose for so long. Let's visualize listening to a little Texas Western fiddle music before taking a well-deserved Savasana.

Praise God for modest, young women with keen intellects and plenty of pluck! Call your mother!

I love the outfit, especially the shoes! What a beautiful reflection of your work as a mother it is when you can praise your young daughter for her character and helpfulness.

She looks so happy, playing her fiddle. I bet she steps lively in those pink high-tops.

How nice to see this photo of this wonderful young lady. What a gift she has and is. Congratulations on your accomplishments, too, mom.

It's all about the shoes. She's so lovely- this is a wonderfully soothing picture and you are one lucky mum indeed. I so wish I could hear her play. This photo puts me in mind of the Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O'Connor recordings

And you should be sorry. I thought if I came by here one more time to see that leg sticking up...

Miss you. Trying to pin down fishing guy on final DATES. He escaped to San Diego this morning without so I'm trying to decide between a lovingly menacing e-mail to give him one last chance or just go ahead and book flights. Let's see- what would Babette do?

You have such a wonderful family, and I know you appreciate each and every unique person in it. I am glad that you are accomplishing your goal! Formidable!!

So sweet! I'd like to imagine my girls looking so happy and playing the fiddle as teenagers. They must meet your family and breathe your air.

Rachel's violin teacher has told her that she would make a good "double" strings player--violin and viola. She's excited about that possibility and also wants to learn to fiddle.

It pays to bring 'em up right. You got a swell foundling there, kiddo.

You have just described MY daughter, violin and all! As for Jane Eyre, I re-read that book every summer and have since I was eight years old. It attracted me in the third grade because that was MY first name!

You daughter is beautiful. I concur with Hoss. YOU did a great deal of it.

And she looks so pretty in blue.

She would get along famously here in my Ann Arbor area which is a hotbed of fiddler talent. The Saline fiddlers are world reknowned. A fellow member of my son's high school tennis team is a champion fiddler who has released several CDs and has played on A Prairie Home Companion.

But we don't need any more cello players here. Dime a dozen they are. Yoga instructors? Maybe.

A happy belated Father's Day to your DH there. I'm sure he's several times the father I am in more ways than one.

The hat is great and I love the high tops, but I tell you what, the socks are to die for. I love them!!! They are just what I need for preschool when we talk about shapes. Darn it though, we cover that during the heat of MO's summer.
Good luck on your teacher training. I know you will have lots of support at home.
Miss you!

There are few things that make me happier than watching young fiddlers play, and the hat and high-tops add a delightful je ne sais quoi to this photo.

Except for the shoes, she's straight out of "Little House..."!
A beautiful girl, Babette!

Spartan Friend,

You need to expand yoga teaching into yoga/parenting courses, and I NEED to be your first student!

I know you are quite preoccupied in various asanas but we miss you, you know. Still, you're excused. Always.

About Me

My photo
I live on a forested mountain with my beloved husband and our large family. Less is more, except where children are concerned. My favorite pastimes are practicing yoga on my side deck, learning how to improvise on the cello, and boating into the Puget Sound with my sweetheart.
